DG Bill was born in Wilmington, DE to parents Frank and Velma Ferguson, one of 4 brothers one older, two younger. He graduated from Newark, DE High School and then attended Thompson Business School, Goldey Beacom Jr. College and finally completed his BS in Accounting from University of Baltimore. During his last two years of college he went to college during the day and worked the night shift from 3:30pm to midnight at the Chrysler plant in Newark, DE.
He met his future wife Robbinn thru knowing her brother Roy who was in US Navy. In June 1969 he graduated college. Robbinn graduated from High School and they were married. Got drafted into the service shortly on return from their honeymoon and joined the US Navy in January 1970. He spent 4 years in Navy mostly in Norfolk, VA on command ship USS Mt Whitney LCC-20. Their son Bill Jr. was born in 1973. After his service, he went to work at Royster Company in Norfolk, VA as management trainee and worked for them for 25 years in Norfolk at headquarters and in Lancaster PA at subsidiary. In 1998 moved to Salisbury, MD and joined Choptank Electric as their controller and retired in 2015. They have two grandchildren, Crystal and Bryan.
DG Bill joined Rotary on December 1, 1987 to the Rotary Club of Hampton Roads in Virginia Beach, VA and stayed until June 1, 1995 when he was transferred to outer banks of North Carolina to work at Cape Hatteras EMC which he stayed until 1998 when he moved to Salisbury, MD and joined Choptank Electric Cooperative. Joined the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club on July 12, 2003 and have been a member ever since.
He currently serves as treasurer of nonprofit Chesapeake Housing Mission, Discovery Center Museum in Pocomoke City, Pemberton Ponds Homeowners Association and their church, Mt Olivet United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, MD. Also, current member of the grant committees for Community Foundation of Eastern Shore and United Way.
He and Robbinn enjoy watching all sport events and volunteering in their communities.
